Sterling Jewelry Care:
All sterling silver tarnishes through a process called oxidization. This cannot be prevented but can easily be cleaned with a treated polishing cloth. 

Preventive Care:
I always include a sealed plastic bag with your jewelry purchase. Storing your jewelry in this sealed plastic bag will slow down the tarnishing process. Sterling jewelry will tarnish if it is exposed to air. 

Silver and the patina that I add to some of my sterling pieces will react to chlorine. Please avoid wearing your jewelry in a swimming pool or when you shower.

Some beach stones absorb oils from your skin. To remove oils from beach stones or silver, gently wash your piece under warm water and a mild, ammonia- and phosphate-free dish washing soap.

Turquoise: It’s safe to clean turquoise jewelry with warm, soapy water, but it should never be cleaned with steam or ultrasonic cleaners. Hand lotion can change the color of a stone. So put on any perfume, lotions, etc. first, then put on your turquoise. 

Cleaning Cloth: I use Sunshine ® Polishing Cloths. The cloth is a non-staining and easy-to-use to remove tarnish from sterling silver, gold, brass, copper, glass, mirrors and most other surfaces, leaving a deep, long-lasting luster. Gently rub the surface to be polished. Each cloth is impregnated with special chemical cleansing agents and non-scratching micro-abrasives. You can purchase these cloths from Amazon.com. The cloth will turn dark but it can still be used for a very long time.
